FAQ

  • While the first London Mural Festival required major investment by Global Street Art, we also had support from a number of landlords and a very limited number of brands.

In 2024, we continue to take a pragmatic approach to funding, with the aim that the festival should ultimately become sustainable for it to be able to continue. Although we received no public funding or grants during the first festival, London Mural Festival is not closed to support from different sorts of partners, including public bodies, landlords, brands, and individuals. • We held an open call out for artists in the early part of 2024, applications for which are now closed.

Thanks so much to all the talented artists who applied - our small team are currently reviewing all applications. We had an overwhelming response with over 2,000 artists applying to take part in London Mural Festival 2024! If you applied, you should hear back from us by the end of May.

The selection process is managed by the festival’s producers at Global Street Art. We aim to showcase a wide variety of street art styles, and provide opportunities for artists at all stages in their careers. We will do our best to match artists to mural sites based on their preference and style. The number of artists that can participate in the festival depends on the number of walls we are able to source, funding, and our ability to manage so many sites being painted simultaneously.

  • Murals will last as long as possible. Most of the murals from the first London Mural Festival in 2020 are still going strong today, poviding a lasting cultural legacy for the city!

  • The festival will take place in September 2024. The full dates and programme will be announced closer to the time. Sign up to our emails at the bottom of this page to be the first to know.

  • You can find the murals and plan a visit using our interactive map.

  • For the first festival in 2020, we were unable to publish the location of murals while they were being painted, due to COVID-19 restrictions. But in 2024 we hope to be able to share more details of the murals in advance, so you can enjoy watching them take shape. However, some artists prefer to paint in private because they don’t want to share their identity or they don’t want to be distracted; so we will always try to respect our artists’ wishes
