Sebas Velasco

Spanish artist Sebas Velasco joins the line up for London Mural Festival for the first time!

His work explores the relationship between urban life and nature through oil painting and public projects. With his unique perspective on light and space, Sebas celebrates the present while contemplating the complexities of a nostalgic past.

Over the last few years, Sebas Velasco has aligned himself with the great documentarians of Eastern Europe.

With frequent visits to countries of former Yugoslavia, Poland, Hungary and Ukraine; Velasco observes the shifting relationship between the urban environment and socio-economic and political structures. Concrete utopias have come to identify Velasco’s work. Elevating the mundane, he breathes life into decaying and forgotten spaces.

Towering giants, abandoned vehicles, and neon signs are all collaged from his own photographic research trips. Through an expressive use of paint, Velasco’s art transcends the boundaries of conventional aesthetics toward a more emotional reflection of time.
